The Difference Between YT Type and YG Type Cemented Carbide

Cemented carbide refers to an alloy material made of a refractory metal compound as a matrix and a transition metal as a binder phase, and then made by powder metallurgy. It is widely used in automotive, medical, military, national defense, aerospace, aviation and other fields. . It is worth noting that due to the different types and contents of refractory metal carbides and binders, the physical and chemical properties of the prepared cemented carbides are also different, and their mechanical and physical properties mainly depend on the type of metal carbide. According to the different main components, cemented carbide can be divided into YT type and YG type cemented carbide.

From the definition point of view, YT-type cemented carbide refers to tungsten-titanium-cobalt-type cemented carbide, the main components are tungsten carbide, titanium carbide and cobalt, and the brand name is "YT" ("hard, titanium" two words Chinese Pinyin prefix) It is composed of the average content of titanium carbide, such as YT15, which means that the average content of titanium carbide is 15%, and the rest is cemented carbide with tungsten carbide and cobalt content. YG-type cemented carbide refers to tungsten-cobalt-type cemented carbide. The main components are tungsten carbide and cobalt. For example, YG6 refers to tungsten-cobalt carbide with an average cobalt content of 6% and the rest is tungsten carbide.

From the performance point of view, both YT and YG cemented carbides have good grinding performance, bending strength and toughness. It should be noted that the wear resistance and thermal conductivity of YT-type cemented carbide and YG-type cemented carbide are opposite. The former has better wear resistance and poor thermal conductivity, while the latter has poor wear resistance and thermal conductivity. it is good.
